We are getting married this August in a Lutheran church. Instead of an organ we are having violins (2 violins and a cello, actually) We are planning on having the bridesmaids walk part way down the aisle to meet up with the groomsmen and then continue down the aisle together (there are 6 couples) I want to walk down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon for my grand entrance. Should the wedding party walk to the same music or should we pick another piece for their entrance? Also, what suggestions would you have for music as we are exiting? For the recieving line we are going to walk back in to the beginning of the church to greet guests one-on-one as they exit the pews…should we have music playing for that as well? Thanks for any help you can give me.

I was seriously about to say not Pachelbel’s Canon…and then I read that that’s what you’re doing. I just think it’s a little overdone because that’s what they do on TV all the time. However, if that’s what you want, it’s not my wedding, it’s your wedding and you should get what you want.
I think you should definitely have a different piece for the wedding party to walk to. It would make your entrance and walk down the aisle more important and impressive by separating you from the wedding party.
Oh, and congratulations!
The music should def should be different when you walk down the isle, versus the song choice for the bridal party.
Usually the song for exiting is something more upbeat and happy, symbollising the happy occasion that just took place.
For when greeting guests that are leaving choose something upbeat a as well
As for song choice def let it be up to you completely, it is your day after all! He he.
Always check with the chruch planner as well some have guidelines even for the music to be played.
Best of luck to you!!
Be seeing you…….
why are you having the girls meet the groomsmen part way down the aisle? that’s not going to flow right, that’ll look weird. either have the groomsmen at the altar with the groom or have them walk down the aisle in pairs with the bridesmaids. no, you should pick a song for everyone else to walk in to (ask your trio what they already have prepared) and then canon in D starts for you when you come down. and sure, have the music play during the receiving line since you have live instruments, that’ll sound nice.
Check out this site, this is an idea for your reception. Totally hilarious. It’s def a rip off the movie Old School.
