ok so here is the deal the food and beverage for 150 for a san francisco wedding is getting crazy!!! i want to have a beautiful wedding but don’t feel that in this economy we should settle for something mediocre because we cant afford the good stuff
. i have been doing some research and can have a beautiful cabo wedding for 30 close family and friends for a great price on the beach way below budget with musicians and flowers and the beautiful views of the sea of Cortez’s! just a couple of Problems
1. we both have a grand parent that is 90 years old right now and fear they wont be able to travel.
2. my family my mom(dad is deceased), sisters and bro in-laws are all set for cabo and will do whatever i choose to make me happy
but my fiances family has been pushing there church social hall on me for the inexpensive alternative to my wedding. and all though it is a great place it does not reflect me or my fiance’s style . i love my future family and want them in cabo with us but i think when we say “ok change of plans” they are going to hate it!!! also me , my mom my sister and some of his family have a timeshare in cabo san lucas so all they will need is a plane ticket, flip flops and a smile!

I just got married myself. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remember the only one you have to worry about is your fiance and yourself. If this is the perfect wedding for the both of you and is going to make you both happy than go for it. As, for your grandparents in their 90’s they might feel relief in not having to find a way there (because many times they feel like they are putting many family members out), getting all dressed up, and having to find a way home early. (I know that my grandmother was so happy that she did not have to come to the whole thing. She really loved watching the video that we had made just for her)
I guess what I am trying to say is if you think that for one moment that you will ever look back and regret not having the wedding of your dreams because you are worried about pleasing everyone else than DON”T get married in a church. GET MARRIED AT THE BEACH!!!!!
(I know we both regret doing the big wedding thing. I wish so many times that we should have done it our way)
One last thought. Remember they have all already had the wedding of their dreams so why shouldn’t you both.
If your church allows the minister ito celebrate your marriage before God on a beach, then you will be just as married and your marriage will be just as blessed, as if it were performed in a church building.
Now, if you are thinking of changing to a civil ceremony, then one wonders why you were considering getting married in a church in the first place. Either the spiritual dimension of your wedding ceremony matters, or it doesn’t. If it does, then do whatever is necessary to have the blessing of the church on your wedding.
If, on the other hand, the spiritual dimension doesn’t matter to you — if you were just going for a church wedding because you wanted to use the beauty of a holy setting without valuing the holy dimension of the actions you would be taking there — then by all means go have a wedding on the beach. You shouldn’t abuse the church’s hospitality by co-opting a sacred place just for the sake of having a good looking “venue”!
