I dont want anything really fancy but i do want the church and big white dress those being my two big things. Then basic flowers and all that stuff. I was just curios as to how much this would cost just an average.
Thanks in advance.

Plug in your zip code to see the average cost for your area.http://costofwedding.com/
That said, you can wed for less. Check out the budget brides bio here:http://community.theknot.com/cs/ks/user/…
The cost of a church wedding varies based on location, individual church fees, number of guests and style of reception to name a few!
I had a smallish wedding (100 guests) at a Methodist church in the greater Seattle area. We had a luncheon-buffet style reception. I used daises rather than roses (because I love daises) and had a formal wedding gown. Total cost for my wedding was just over $5,000. That included everything from church rental, catering, invitations, programs, flowers, attendant gifts, reception favors, photography, a band, favors, make-up and hair, our rings and the entire honeymoon.
If you’re crafty and not afraid to do things yourself, you can save a lot of money on everything from flowers to favors to your wedding gown.
Best of luck!
Average is relative to geography and exactly what you want. If your a church member, it can be free or minimal. If you are not a member, it can be $300+. Your dress can come from GoodWill for $25 or can be couture for $2500+. You can use carnations for $40 or exotic orchids for $4000. It really varies based on exactly what you want. A better way to figure it out is to set up your budget and work within it.
I am having a church wedding. Our church is free as we are active members. I am gifting the church $300 and my pastor $200. My dress was $980. We are spending ~$2000 on flowers for the church and bridal party and another $700 for reception flowers. That’s a total of $3200 for the church ceremony, not including the tuxes, unity candle ($37), programs ($15) and musician ($200).
Good luck!
Hi Ashley:
This really is impossible to tell you. It all varies by WHERE you live (city or rural setting) and how many guests you are having and what type of wedding and reception you are having.
I can tell you that the AVERAGE cost of a wedding in the U.S. today is about $20,000 to $25,000. Now, that is the average. There are lots of couples that have a wedding much, much cheaper and some that have one that is more expensive.
It really would be more beneficial for you to check out your local area. Call your church and inquire as to the fees for getting married there. The church costs vary. I work as a secretary at a Lutheran Church and we do not charge members a fee for the use of the church itself. The fees that are expected are for the janitor and the minister, and, of course, for the organist.
The reception is the biggest cost of a wedding, so that is the area where you can really save. Some weddings have a fancy dinner and/or buffet, which, will obviously cost you. Some on here are having a small wedding followed by cake and punch for a reception. Some are doing backyard BBQ’s. There are so many options for a reception today that you can customize it to fit your budget.
Good luck!
Do a search on “chapels” in your area, you may be surprised. I married my best friend in September and the chapel I found was only $700 for the chapel, minister, organist, and the hall located in the basement. I bought bouqets at Michaels and had the food catered for 50 guest, it only cost $350. Best of Luck to you and your sweetie! !
